William Shatner is Attending Phoenix Comicon 2012
Iconic Actor beams into Phoenix for May 26, 2012

Phoenix is hosting the legendary actor William Shatner for this year’s Phoenix Comicon. Renowned for his portrayal of Captain James T. Kirk in the science fiction television series Star Trek from 1966 to 1969, Star Trek: The Animated Series from 1973 to 1974, and in seven of the subsequent Star Trek feature films from 1979 to 1994. He has written a series of books chronicling his experiences playing Captain Kirk and being a part of Star Trek and has co-written several novels set in the Star Trek universe. He has also authored a series of science fiction novels called TekWar that were adapted for television.

“It’s a great honor having William Shatner attend our event, he is an icon of the science fiction genre” commented Convention Director Matt Solberg.

Shatner played the veteran police sergeant in T. J. Hooker from 1982 to 1986. From 1989 to 1996 he hosted the reality-based television series Rescue 911 which won a People's Choice Award for Favorite New TV Dramatic Series. He has worked as a musician, author, producer, director, and celebrity pitchman. From 2004 to 2008, he starred as attorney Denny Crane in the television dramas The Practice and its spin-off Boston Legal, for which he won two Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award.

“Shatner is very diverse in his contributions to pop culture and we hope our attendees will be as excited as we are that he is attending our convention,” stated Joe Boudrie, the Director of Programming.
 
William Shatner is appearing on Saturday May 26, 2012 at Phoenix Comicon, the signature pop culture event of the southwest. Comicon is presenting guests and programming for hobbyists by attracting the top segments of the comics, anime, sci-fi, film, TV, and gaming industries. Entering its tenth year, Phoenix Comicon is expected to draw over 25,000 attendees to its May 24-27, 2012 convention held at the Phoenix Convention Center and Hyatt Regency in Downtown Phoenix.
