NEW YORK) January 7, 2013 – EW.com, America’s leading online entertainment destination, announces the launch today of CapeTown (ew.com/capetown), a new digital destination devoted to the intersection of Hollywood and "Comic-Con culture" -- the surging scene that encompasses super-hero, sci-fi, fantasy and horror and stretches across film, television, gaming, comics and novels. During its first week, CapeTown will feature exclusive interviews with Robert Downey Jr. on the flight path for Iron Man 3, Brad Pitt on the zombie battle plan in World War Z, and DC Comics writer Scott Snyder on getting under the skin of the Joker.
Led by Entertainment Weekly senior writer Geoff Boucher, who recently joined EW after twenty years at the Los Angeles TimesCapeTown will be home to exclusive first-look previews of blockbuster films and TV shows, in-depth interviews with “geek culture” A-listers, and unparalleled on-the-set access.
“It’s an amazing time for the entertainment of the fantastic -- zombies have brought new life to television, young wizards have reshaped the literary marketplace and, at the movies, superheroes don’t just leap tall buildings they give us a modern mythology,” Boucher said. “All of it is connected by the passionate fan tribes of today, the ones who cheer for Katniss, Batman, Gandalf and Yoda and are always ready for the next quest and adventure. In addition to Boucher, CapeTown will also offer reporting, expert analysis and opinion from EW’s all-star staff of genre experts including Jeff Jensen, Anthony Breznican, James Hibberd, Solvej Schou, Adam Vary, Darren Franich and others.
