STAN LEE CELEBRATES CHILDREN’S LITERACY, EDUCATION AND FUN AT 1ST EVER STAN LEE’S KIDS UNIVERSE DAY THIS PAST WEEKEND

Los Angeles February 4, 2012---This past Saturday, Comic icon Stan Lee headlined the inaugural Stan Lee’s Kids Universe Day, a daylong celebration advocating literacy, education and fun for over 100 kids in Los Angeles. Held at Giggles N’ Hugs in Century City, Stan Lee’s Kids Universe Day was the brainchild of Paris Kasidokostas Latsis and Terry Dougas at 1821 Comics (www.1821comics.com) and Stan Lee with his company POW! Entertainment. The event was sponsored by Stan Lee’s World of Heroes and was hosted by actress Jaime Pressly, whose five-year old son also attended the celebration. Stan Lee’s Kids Universe Day featured a slew of interactive activities including a reading from Stan Lee, a face painting competition, and a variety of arts and crafts games throughout the event. Lee also welcomed families from the Make-A-Wish Foundation who were invited to the event.

At Stan Lee’s Kids Universe Day, 1821 Comics, Lee and POW! Entertainment unveiled their first two properties that are available beginning today from their new family friendly imprint Stan Lee’s Kids Universe (SLKU). The first property from the label is colorful children’s book MONSTERS VS. KITTENS by Dani Jones. The second property SLKU unveiled is a game for the IOS platform (iTunes) titled GOOBEEZ: PIRATE ADVENTURE.

1821 Comics co-founder Paris Kasidokostas Latsis said: “This kick off event really laid the foundation for our fun, family oriented label and we will be releasing a slate of more books, e-books and games in the coming months. Our goal is to make our titles available on these emerging platforms as well as the traditional platforms to reach as many people as possible.”

Entertainment and his producing partner, President and CEO of POW! Entertainment Gill Champion. GOOBEEZ: PIRATE ADVENTURE follows Peg Leg Mcgee and his band of pirates land on Goobeez Island looking for lost treasure, but instead they find the mythical Goobeez who inhabit the island.  The pirates kidnap Goobeez and have taken them to their ship, the mission is to save the Goobeez and help them escape the pirate ship and get them back to land.
