Pop Culture Extravaganza Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo 2013
Star-studded lineup includes Carrie Fisher, Gillian Anderson, and “Weird Al”

Calgary, AB (March 5, 2013) – The sensory overloaded world of the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo (Calgary Expo) returns April 26 – 28, 2013. Coming off a record-breaking attendance of over 60,000 in 2012, the second largest all-ages pop culture convention in Canada will feature celebrity icons from all facets of pop culture, including comics, sci-fi, horror, fantasy, cartoons, anime, and gaming.

"Calgary Expo fans have truly embraced the magic we've created, and those fans come back year after year for something new,” states the Calgary Expo Event Director, Kandrix Foong. “That loyalty is why we constantly strive to create new ways for them to connect with our special guests. We stand apart from other pop culture conventions with exclusive events in tandem with exceptional show programming."

This year features three ticketed events outside regular expo hours: an exclusive fan experience with Game of Thrones stars Peter Dinklage and Lena Headey, where fans can wine and dine with the royal siblings at an intimate reception-style party the evening of Friday, April 26. For the Doctor Who and Torchwood purists (or “whovians” as they’re better known) ‘The Hub’ will feature another Friday evening reception with John Barrowman, Eve Myles, and Gareth David-Lloyd. Also on Friday, comedy and music fans alike will get weird with “Weird Al” Yankovic at his Alpocalypse Tour concert, an added bonus to Al’s first-ever comic-con appearance.

Additional star power confirmed for the Calgary Expo includes Star Wars space royalty Carrie Fisher, famous for portraying Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy, and Ian McDiarmid, the evil Emperor Palpatine. Gillian Anderson, best known as Dana Scully on The X-Files and The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus will also appear. From Terminator to Dr. Who, the gamut of guests makes the Calgary Expo the place where even the cool kids release their inner geek.
