NUMBER 1 INTERNATIONAL COMEDY ‘PULP’ TO LAUNCH IN US & CANADA ON XBOX VIDEO
After
making movie history in 2013 by becoming the first feature film to
premiere on Xbox Video in the UK, and topping the Xbox Video charts in
Australia and New Zealand Pulp is coming to North America. Pulp will
launch in the US & Canada on January 14th 2014.
Pulp will be available to purchase for the promotional price of $3.99 SD and $4.99 HD during the first two weeks of release.
London, UK, 13th January, 2014 – Following successful releases in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, ground breaking British comedy, Pulp, will have its US and Canadian premieres on Xbox Video, when it is launches in those territories on 14th January 2014.
Pulp
is an irreverent comedy set in a world where comic book publishing and
international crime intersect. The film has become a counter-culture
phenomenon on the global festival circuit and topped the Xbox Video
charts in Australia and New Zealand earlier this year. Described as “Withnail & I meets Spaced” by SFX Magazine, and an “entertainingly British comedy caper” by Urban Cinefile, Pulp has been gathering fans around the world.
Pulp’s co-director and producer, Adam Hamdy, said, “Xbox
Video did a great job of helping us find an audience for the film in
the UK, Australia & New Zealand and we’re excited to be launching
the film with Xbox Video in the US and Canada.”
“Bringing
Pulp to new audiences around the world enhances our offering for Xbox
Live customers, who crave new and exciting content,” said Paul Davidson, Director of Xbox Video. “We’re incredibly honored to introduce Pulp to new audiences around the world on Xbox Video.”
The deal was brokered by Pat Nelson of SyndicateWorks, an innovative talent and brand management agency, who said, “Everything
about Pulp has been innovative, from the way the film was made, to the
way it was marketed, so it’s only fitting that we continue to innovate
with Pulp’s international release strategy.”
Phil Bland, producer of Pulp, said, “The
film industry is in a period of transition and we’re thrilled to be at
the forefront of innovation. It’s great to have notched up another film
history first. Xbox is a great partner to work with and we look forward
to seeing how American and Canadian audiences respond to the film on
Xbox Video.”
Pulp’s
extended trailer, which features the now infamous ‘Star Wars’ scene,
became an online sensation, resonating with people around the world, as
it racked up over a million views, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGE0q_bQN4M
Pulp
was selected for the prestigious Just For Laughs Comedy Film Festival,
and was nominated for the London Comedy Film Festival Discovery Award. Phil Bland is optimistic about the film’s prospects, “Pulp
is not a remake, sequel or adaptation of a board game. It wasn’t
created by a committee of suits sitting in a skyscraper in Los Angeles.
It was born of a series of crazy events, and made by a group of
talented actors and dedicated filmmakers who fell in love with a nutty
script. We had a lot of fun making Pulp, and festival audiences who
have seen the film say that fun energy shines through the film.”
Pulp will be available to purchase for the promotional price of $3.99 SD and $4.99 HD during the first two weeks of release.
