SEE FOREVER IN REMENDER'S AND SCALERA'S BLACK SCIENCE
Science fiction gets warped in new Image Comics trade paperback
In a string of big releases from Image Comics over the past year, BLACK SCIENCE was one of the biggest. The atmospheric pulp sci-fi adventure by Rick Remender (DEADLY CLASS, Captain America) and Matteo Scalera (DEAD BODY ROAD, Secret Avengers) debuted in November and has had multiple printings of every issue released, garnering praise from critics and professionals alike. The first six issues are now being collected into BLACK SCIENCE VOLUME ONE: HOW TO FALL FOREVER, arriving in comic book stores on May 28 and bookstores on June 10.

Anarchist scientist Grant McKay has defied conventions and done the impossible, using a device called the Pillar to punch a hole between dimensions that allows him to travel through all possible universes. But now Grant and his team are storm-tossed on an infinite ocean of alien worlds and long-forgotten, ancient, and unimaginable dark realms. With no clear route home, the only way is forward, through the madness of the lightning sea-swamp and a futurepast trenchworld, where the Sons of the Wakan Tech-Tanka wage never-ending war on the savages of Europe!

With an intense, mind-warping story in the vein of H.P. Lovecraft, action-adventure thrills à la Edgar Rice Burroughs, and fantastic Frank Frazetta-inspired visuals by the art team of Scalera and colorist Dean White, BLACK SCIENCE VOLUME ONE is a must-have for any lover of classic science fiction and fantasy.

Praise for BLACK SCIENCE:

Black Science is best read tucked inside something respectable and boring. Why let the outside world know you're having this much fun?”
- Patton Oswalt

“Epic, anarchic, sci-fi greatness and the art is gorgeous.”
- Scott Snyder (SEVERED, Batman, The Wake, American Vampire)

"I think it's best described as VIVID. No. VIVIDLY WILD, with drama and humor. The art by Matteo Scalera is stunningly beautifully fluid and imaginative. And the masterful Dean White's color palettes and textures create an atmosphere of a dream-like lush. You must read this!"
- J.H. Williams III (Sandman: Overture, Batwoman)

"Just a big pure vision of science fiction wonderment. Comics to paint the inside of your eyelids with."
- Kieron Gillen (THREE, PHONOGRAM, Young Avengers)

Black Science #1 is a riveting return to Rick Remender’s pulp sci-fi roots. …this Image Comics debut is an incredible first issue that spotlights the immense imagination of its creative team.”
- Oliver Sava, The A.V. Club

Black Science #1 hits you hard from its very first page. It reads like a lost pulp masterpiece, like a well worn science fiction novel found on the shelf of a dank, used book store. It's a blueprint for a perfect opening, grabbing you right away and never letting go. It's whirlwind of color, violence and madness. When it comes to debuts this year, nothing even comes close to the stunning mastery of Black Science #1. This is what comic books are all about, people.”
- Benjamin Bailey, IGN

Black Science is the action-packed sci-fi thriller that you have been asking for; striking art, compelling characters and a gripping story all in one book. This team of creators are showing off their experienced skills and hitting us with everything they have. Every single issue has been magnificent to read and no one issue has felt less superior to another. Black Science just keeps getting better as it goes on, sucking you as a reader, deeper into its inter-dimensional abyss.”
- Ian Stephen, All-Comic
