SHUTTER SELLS OUT IN A SNAP
The first issue of the new fantasy adventure series
gets camera-ready for second printing
The
first issue of the new Image Comics urban fantasy series SHUTTER,
written by Joe Keatinge (GLORY, TECH JACKET) and drawn by Leila del Duca
has already garnered critical acclaim and sold out at the distributor
level.
In
SHUTTER #1, Kate Kristopher, once the most famous explorer of an Earth
far more fantastic than the one we know, is forced to return to the
adventurous life she left behind when a family secret threatens to
destroy everything she spent her life protecting.
Praise for SHUTTER:
“Shooting
for realism and dimension, Keatinge hints at Kate’s flaws early on, and
she’s immediately more relatable for it. The lightning bolt that sparks
life into this book is del Duca’s art, though. Her pencils are dynamic
and sensitive, from the empathetic contours of Kate’s face to her city’s
sprawling horizon, which look just as fantastic as the monsters within
it.”
—Robert Tutton, PASTE Magazine
“Shutter promises a mixture of urban fantasy with globe-trekking adventure.”
—Chris Arrant, Newsarama
“The
artwork builds the kind of immersion into the world of the story that
is genuinely hard to find in comics, but del Duca manages it with a deft
touch. Without feeling overbearing to the reader, del Duca’s artwork
and Keatinge’s writing puts everything the reader needs to know about
this strange world right there on the page… This is a first issue that
promises much more to come, and it will be one hell of a trip to get
there.”
—David Henderson, Multiversity Comics
“I would hang almost every page on my wall.”
—Ani Gozalez, Word of the Nerd
“Shutter #1
not only exceeded my expectations, it quickly became one of the two
biggest stand-out books of the first quarter of 2014. When I say that
the hype is real, believe me. The hype is real.”
—Mike Sains, Capeless Crusader
“An interesting concept with a damn fine cup of art.”
—Jon Suarez, Rhymes with Geek
“Leila
del Duca suits Keatinge’s magical tale perfectly. The way that she
captures the charming nature straight from the start shows great
storytelling and understanding of scripts. It also adds to the overall
tone of the issue and alongside the smooth layouts we get a vibrant and
powerful flow to this story.” —John McCubbin, Unleash the Fanboy
