Network today announced a 13-episode second season renewal of the cable
channel’s spy thriller “Matador” from award-winning writer/producer Roberto Orci.
Shot
in Los Angeles, the irreverent, adrenaline-filled series chronicles the
unlikely rise of Tony “Matador” Bravo (Gabriel Luna), a professional
soccer player for the LA Riot who comes to be known as much for his
antics off the field as his moves on it. But what his fans and family
don't realize is that it's all a cover—in truth, he is a skilled covert
operative executing missions for the CIA. Agent Bravo, nicknamed
“Matador” after he takes out a top player known as “The Bull” during
tryouts for the team, finds himself suddenly thrust into a clandestine
world. But, in balancing his dueling roles, he will be forced to
confront the question of his true identity… and it is this mission that
may prove to be his most dangerous.

EL REY NETWORK BITES INTO SEASON TWO OF ‘FROM DUSK TILL DAWN: THE SERIES’ WITH PRODUCTION SET TO BEGIN THIS OCTOBER IN AUSTIN
Beverly Hills, CA – July 10, 2014 -- El Rey Network today announced that production on the sophomore season of Robert Rodriguez’s “From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series,” the network’s first scripted drama, will start production in Austin (home to Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios) beginning October 2014.
Season
two will be comprised of 13 hour-long episodes (three additional as
compared to season one) allowing fans to sink their teeth into a
supernatural series
described as a “fascinating ride” with “raw nerve and witty dialogue.”
In addition to its berth on El Rey Network, the franchise is available
exclusively on Netflix in Canada, the UK, Ireland, the Nordics, the
Netherlands and Latin America with season one becoming available on the
service in the U.S. on August 19. Other international territories where
the series is available include Australia, China and the Middle East.
Returning are all leading cast members including Wilmer Valderrama, D.J.
Cotrona, Zane Holtz and Eiza Gonzalez.

“Cutting Crew,” chronicling the antics and edgy artistry of a new breed
of barbers.

Long a fan of Lucha Libre,
a Mexican franchise that has an 85% market share on television, El Rey
is banking on American television viewers being drawn in by the
high-flying antics and colorful world of freestyle wrestling. Each week
“Lucha: Uprising” (WT) will bring drama, excitement and action as the
masked heroes and villains battle it out in the ring for wrestling
supremacy. The weekly, one-hour series from the producers One Three
Media serves as a foundation for a new sports entertainment business,
with which Burnett has partnered with El Rey Network, its founder,
Robert Rodriguez, Lucha Libre AAA, FactoryMade Ventures and Antonio Cue
Sanchez-Navarro.
In
addition to Burnett and One Three Media, El Rey Network’s weekly series
will also be executive produced by Rodriguez and by FactoryMade and El
Rey co-founders John Fogelman and Cristina Patwa. One Three Media’s
chief operating officer Brian Edwards will join the venture's board with
current board members Dorian Roldan from Lucha Libre AAA, Cue

“Cutting
Crew” explores the edgy artistry of a dynamic team of barbers who have
made a name for themselves by thinking outside the stylist box. Produced
by Big Vida Entertainment for El Rey Network, "Cutting Crew" is
comprised of eight, hour-long installments.
Showcasing
masterful motifs that are anything but ordinary, this group of
creatives knows how to make a statement. Whether they are executing a
simple fade, an elaborate or memorable design, or shaving back hair into
the shape of a Batman emblem, the passionate team of “scissor-happy”
artistes use razors and clippers to get the job done. At the barbershop,
there is a serious dedication to the craft, but there is nothing
serious about the raucous crew that works for award-winning barber Amit
Corso who opened his shop outside of Philadelphia in 2005 (after
spending most of his young life tortured by his mother’s DIY haircuts).
But barbering isn’t the only thing going on at the shop-- in between the
fades and shaves, this band of barbers finds time to bicker, debate,
joke around and cook up challenges that range from testing feats of
strength to more juvenile endeavors that just give everyone a good
chuckle. But in the end, it’s the camaraderie in this diverse group that
is the heart of “Cutting Crew.”

THE ICONIC ‘80s COP SHOW THAT REDEFINED THE GENRE

Beverly Hills, CA – July 10, 2014 – El
Rey Network has acquired the rights from NBCUniversal Television &
New Media Distribution to air all 111 episodes of the Emmy Award®
winning series “Miami Vice” it was announced today. From Emmy Award®-winning and Academy Award®-nominated writer-producer Michael Mann, the series, which celebrates its 30th
anniversary this fall, became appointment viewing on Friday nights and
launched a national fashion trend inspired by the cool whites and
colorful pastels worn by lead characters, Detectives James Crockett (Don
Johnson) and Ricardo Tubbs (Philip Michael Thomas).
“Miami
Vice,” which debuted on NBC in 1984, will join El Rey’s line-up
beginning January 2015. Viewers will see Don Johnson in his breakout
role, decades before his turn as Sheriff Earl McGraw in El Rey Network’s
first original scripted program, “From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series.”
“Miami Vice,” which ran for five seasons, made its mark on the
television landscape in part thanks to executive producer Mann’s
influence on the cop drama’s look and cinematic feel. The rights extend
through December 2016. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

filmmaker Michael Mann, it was groundbreaking when it first hit the air
and the series' distinctive cinematic look and feel reinvented the cop
drama. It's absolutely one of my personal favorites and it will find a

Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs are not your average vice cops. Fashionable
and slick, the partners are plugged into the Florida drug world for more
than just the job. Tubbs relocated from New York City to Miami to
avenge his brother’s murder and soon teamed up with Crockett. Crockett,
a former Florida football star-turned cop, is undercover as Sonny
Burnett, a known drug runner. Together, Crockett and Tubbs are out to
take down the Miami underworld of drug kingpins and prostitutes, while
dealing with a few vices of their own.
