Newly resurrected Kitchen Sink Books wins two 2014 Harvey Awards!
The Best of Comix Book: When Marvel Comics Went Underground wins awards for "Best Domestic Reprint" and "Excellence in Presentation"

AMHERST, MA; September 10, 2014— Kitchen Sink Books was the recipient of Harvey Awards in the categories of "Best Domestic Reprint Project" and "Special Award for Excellence in Presentation" both for The Best of Comix Book: When Marvel Comics Went Underground. The 27th edition of the annual Harvey Awards were presented in Baltimore, Maryland at the Baltimore Comic Convention on September 6th, 2014.

The newly reestablished Kitchen Sink Books was founded by legendary underground pioneer Denis Kitchen and book designer/editor John Lind as an imprint of Dark Horse Comics in 2013.

“I assembled this strange hybrid forty years ago for Stan Lee, so it's gratifying to see it both back in print and twice honored by fellow professionals at the Harveys." said original series editor and Kitchen Sink Books co-founder Denis Kitchen. "Comix Book was a bold experiment, and probably doomed to failure, but it brought underground cartoonists to a broader audience, including the first national exposure for Maus. Now a whole new generation can see the bastard child of the undergrounds and mainstream comics in a beautiful package.”

The Best of Comix Book
's editor and designer John Lind said of the dual award wins "It is a great honor to not only receive two nominations for our first book under the Kitchen Sink banner but to win both of them was inspiring. We're thankful to all who enjoyed and voted for The Best of Comix Book and those who have expressed genuine excitement and enthusiasm to see the venerable name of 'Kitchen Sink' returning to book spines in comic shops and bookstores across the country."

THE BEST OF COMIX BOOK: WHEN MARVEL COMICS WENT UNDERGROUND was the first title to be published under the Kitchen Sink Books imprint banner, it will be followed in Fall 2014 by projects including:

HARVEY KURTZMAN'S JUNGLE BOOK (THE ESSENTIAL KURTZMAN VOLUME ONE), featuring an introduction by Gilbert Shelton (Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers), essay by Denis Kitchen, an epilogue by Peter Poplaski & R, Crumb, and edited and designed by John Lind.
