INDIEGOGO CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED FOR CYBERPUNK SCI-FI INDEPENDENT FEATURE FILM VIRTUAL REVOLUTION

LOS ANGELES, CA (June 17, 2015) – Award winning filmmaker Guy-Roger Duvert (Cassandra) has launched an Indiegogo campaign for his next production, Virtual Revolution, a cyberpunk sci-fi feature film set in Europe, in 2047, in a world dominated by virtual reality...

With principal photography set to start shooting in Paris in the fall, Virtual Revolution will be a gritty, dirty sci-fi feature film about a dystopia where entertainment in general, and virtual reality in particular, have become a new way of life...

Cyberpunk was an appreciated genre in the 90s, but almost no notable films since then, since The Matrix to be precise, have been produced in that category. While films like Blade Runner 2 and Deux Ex are now in development, Virtual Revolution will be probably among the very first movies from this new cyberpunk wave, to be released!

The goal is to raise an additional $100,000.00 for the film, which will be used to guarantee the same production value that Duvert delivered in his low cost but highly awarded short 'Cassandra'.

“I’m thrilled that there is a platform for independent filmmakers to turn to for crowd funding and it just seemed natural to go through Indiegogo for the additional funds needed to complete our budget for Virtual Revolution over the next 45 days. Virtual Revolution will be a very visual film, as there will be cyberpunk elements, but also medieval fantasy ones, and post apocalyptic ones,” said Duvert

SYNOPSIS

Neo Paris, France. The year is 2047. A time of technological revolution. The revolution did happen. Just not the way people thought it would. It wasn’t an improved control on our environment; it was on the contrary an escape from it. All this had started with videogames only, with persistent worlds in which players were experiencing adventures through their avatars. But technology progressed enough, the players didn’t have any reason anymore to stick to reality. Better sensations, more freedom, less frustration, the possibility to fulfill fantasies… Very quickly the population divided between a big majority, the Connected, always online, and a minority still attached to the real, called the Living. Some never really made a clear choice. They are the Hybrids.

Nash is a Hybrid. He is also a killer, working for one of he world corporations behind several of the most important virtual worlds. His mission is to track, identify and kill terrorists who threaten these worlds by killing players randomly, from inside the games. Nash’s girlfriend was among the victims. Now his investigation leads him from inside Neo Paris slums to the opulent Neo District, but also from inside several worlds.

While he finally succeeds in infiltrating one of the terrorist cells, he then finds himself in the middle of a dangerous game between his employer, Interpol, which decides to solve the problem directly, and these terrorists with noble goals but questionable means…

The revolution did happen. Just not the way people thought it would…
