to be Featured On Air…at Night!!!

Special Guest Judge, Carrie Henn – Rebecca “Newt” Jorden from the Aliens franchise – will Pick Top Three Winners

August 18, 2016 – New York – In celebration of the 30^th Anniversary of Aliens, and in support of the upcoming Alien Invasion on SundanceTV, a marathon of all four Alien films, the network is launching Aliens!!! The Contest, exclusively on Tumblr.

Sci-fi fans and artists: get your digital canvases ready! Beginning August 18 until September 9, SundanceTV is inviting the Tumblr community to submit their otherworldly artistic renderings, gifs, paintings and more — artists’ creativity is the only limit on digital composition submissions! — through SundanceTV's Tumblr at http://sundancetv.tumblr.com/. The top three finalists will be shown on air during the Alien Invasion on SundanceTV starting September 18 through Tuesday, September 20, with one winner revealed each night. Winners will receive additional exposure for their creations via Sundance.tv and the network’s Tumblr.

Aliens!!! The Contest will be judged by employees in the creative departments of SundanceTV and Tumblr, with help from special guest judge Carrie Henn, a.k.a. fan favorite Rebecca “Newt” Jorden from the Aliens franchise.  Henn, who was only 10 years old when she appeared in Aliens, will also be featured in exclusive interstitials for SundanceTV’s social platforms, providing a unique perspective for fans as she reflects on her experience as part of the iconic film franchise.

DESCRIPTIONS:

·         ALIEN: A mysterious transmission from the space merchant vessel’s computer awakens the crew of Nostromo on their return trip from Thedus to Earth. The crew discovers that the signal is not a distress call, but a warning from an alien vessel. Later, the crew comes to find that they are not alone on their spaceship. Directed by Ridley Scott and starring Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt and John Hurt.

·         ALIENS: 57 years later, the Nostromo is found by a salvage team in deep space. With only one survivor — a nine-year-old girl — the marines attempt to fight off the hundreds of aliens that have invaded the colony. Directed by James Cameron and starring Sigourney Weaver, Michael Biehn and Carrie Henn.

·         ALIEN 3: After her last encounter, Ripley crash lands on Fiorina Fury 161, a former maximum security prison. Once again, she comes face to face with the terrifying creature and must battle it without weapons or modern technology of any kind. Directed by David Fincher and starring Sigourney Weaver, Charles S. Dutton and Charles Dance.

·         ALIEN RESURRECTION: Two centuries after her death, Ellen Ripley is revived as a powerful human/alien hybrid clone. When the DNA gets mixed up, Ripley develops alien characteristics due to the alien Queen embryo growing inside of the clone. Directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and starring Sigourney Weaver, Winona Ryder and Dominique Pinon.
