“Imaginary Fiends”!

Chris Roberson and Rich Ellis Launch a New Digital Miniseries!

[Memorial Digital Image]San Diego, CA (October 3, 2012) – IDW Publishing is thrilled to announce the follow-up to the acclaimed miniseries MEMORIAL, by Chris Roberson (Edison Rex, iZombie), Rich Ellis (Stars Below, Twilight Zone), and Grace Allison (Wander)! MEMORIAL: IMAGINARY FIENDS is a brand-new, digital-only return to the colorful world of the original series.

"The first Memorial miniseries that Rich Ellis and I did was always intended to be the beginning of Em's story, not the end,” said series co-creator and writer Roberson. “With Imaginary Fiends, we have the opportunity to pick up where the first miniseries left off, and explore more of the world (or WORLDS) that she and the other characters inhabit. This time around, we visit the Land of Maybe, and see what effect its destruction has had on the real world, in a story that's all about childhood, parenthood, imagination, memory, and loss. Also, talking cats and dragons."

Launching today, MEMORIAL: IMAGINARY FIENDS will be told across nine eight-page installments, released biweekly for only 99¢.

“I've long believed that digital distribution was destined to play a large part in the future of comics, and was delighted when IDW suggested that we structure the next Memorial storyline as a digital original serial,” Roberson continued. “Distributing the serial digitally through the IDW Comics app and Comixology gives us the opportunity not only to provide more story to readers who might have enjoyed the first Memorial miniseries, but also to reach new readers who have never encountered these characters before.”

Returning to a world where memories lost to time are being recovered, MEMORIAL is a feast for the eyes and the mind and IMAGINARY FIENDS is the next chapter in this thrilling story!

IMAGINARY FIENDS kicks off today, but the first MEMORIAL hardcover collection is also available now!

MEMORIAL HC ($24.99, FC, 152 pages) ISBN #: 978-1-61377-354-3, Diamond code: JUN120412.

3-2-1 BLAST OFF! LARGE DANGEROUS ROCKET SHIPS
LAUNCHES ON SCIENCE THIS OCTOBER
--Hosted by MYTHBUSTERS’ Kari Byron, LARGE DANGEROUS ROCKET SHIPS  Premieres on SCIENCE Sunday, October 28, at 10PM (ET/PT)--

(Silver Spring, MD)— For the third year running, SCIENCE takes viewers inside the high-flying, fuel injected competition of LARGE DANGEROUS ROCKET SHIPS.  LDRS (as it’s known to insiders) brings together junkyard geniuses who love the thrill of danger and have a knack for all things explosive for one of the nation’s largest competitive rocket launching events.  Audiences will be blown away by the ingenuity of these rocket enthusiasts who have gathered from around the globe to compete in this one-of-a-kind competition. LDRS premieres on SCIENCE on Sunday, October 28, at 10PM (ET/PT).

Hosted by Kari Byron of MYTHBUSTERS, LDRS takes viewers to the Finger Lakes in New York, where   rock stars of extreme rocketry compete in this main event of fast-flying homemade missiles. More than 200 rocketeers and crowds of thousands gathered to watch the World Series of rocket ship rivalries. These diehard amateur builders use anything and everything to construct their original, hand-designed catapulted creations– from a flying pig to an antique television to a 400-pound snow mobile.

LDRS takes viewers on a wild ride giving them a peek into the unusual subculture of these eclectic engineers as larger-than-life characters and part-time mad scientists fight it out to have the fastest and fiercest sky rocketing invention.  Rockets are judged on creativity and performance making the true key to victory the engineering of each magnificent machine.  Many of these audacious contraptions reach thousands of feet in the air and fly faster than a jet airliner wowing the spectators with their high-flying feats.

“For the third year in a row I have been given the honor of hosting this over-the-top event,” said Byron.  “LDRS brings together a menagerie of crazy geniuses to compete in this insane competition and I am continually blown away by the outrageous rockets they create and this year is no different- it’s why I keep coming back!”

“LDRS fits the DNA of SCIENCE perfectly by celebrating the brilliant and outrageous minds of citizen scientists who use everyday items to blend art and science creating awesome contraptions to blow our minds,” said Debbie Adler Myers, general manager and executive vice president of SCIENCE. “LDRS will take our viewers on an outlandish journey introducing the audience to unusual characters from the world of radical rocketry who are a blast to watch.”
LDRS is produced for SCIENCE by Sharp Productions. Matt Sharp is executive producer for Sharp Productions. For SCIENCE, Joshua C. Berkley is executive producer and Bernadette McDaid is vice president of production.

New Comics Imprint launched at Stan Lee's Comikaze promoting two titles!

Fighting Lion Comics, a new print and web publisher, launches its first title BRIK JONES: ATTORNEY FOR EARTH™ with a limited edition Ashcan comic book written by Phil Smith (Witchblade: Due Process) and illustrated by Sid Kotian (Pilot Season: Twilight Guardian).

Brik Jones is, minimum, a 5 issue comics series that is in the process of becoming a print and web comic. Issues will be sold periodically as assets come to critical mass and are ready to print. The website www.FightingLionComics.com will act as part production blog and part webcomic.

Who is Brik Jones? The character is the Interstellar appointed Attorney for Earth. The Ashcan story, "The Case of Case number 69" is more of a “day in the life” type of story told well after the classic comics style origin story. The Origin Story? That will be forthcoming in future installments via web and print. At this time we are securing an artist for the first 5 issue arc. Sid had time in his schedule between bookings to do this installment for which I am very grateful!

F.L.C. will also be giving away bookmarks and stickers as well as selling a limited edition print of the cover to "The Case of Case Number 69."

Following the success of the launch at Stan Lee's Comikaze Fighting Lion Comics is going into production of the first 5 issue limited series starting with the search for an artist to commit to the series for 5 issues. More news as it becomes available. First issue estimated to be available by the end of 2012. Check www.fightinglioncomics.com for updates.

Early reviews of Brik Jones:

"Here's a quote from BRIK JONES: ATTORNEY FOR EARTH: 'I just had sex with a giant alien jellyfish.' If that doesn't make you want to read this book, I can't imagine what will. This is science fiction like you've never seen, with one hand on a laser pistol, one hand on the intergalactic law review, and tongue planted firmly in cheek. Phil Smith and Sid Kotian have come up with something clever and original, and executed it uncommon flair. This one will have you saying, 'I want my lawyer!' "

-- Ron Marz (Witchblade, Artifacts, Samurai: Heaven and Earth, Green Lantern)

"Not only is Smith writing about a lawyer, he's made him...wait for it...the good guy. I told you he had imagination."

-- Mark Waid (Daredevil, Luther, The Flash, Kingdom Come)

Fighting Lion Comics will also be promoting a Kickstarter campaign for Human: Oceanic a 160 page, digest sized, Hard cover with dust jacket, Original Graphic Novel written by Phil Smith (Trinity: Blood on the Sands) and illustrated by J.K. Woodward (X-Men Origins:Beast, Peter David's Fallen Angel, and Star Trek/Doctor Who).

THE MYSTERY CONTINUES IN WHERE IS JAKE ELLIS?
Follow-up to Eisner-nominated miniseries in November from Image Comics

WHO IS JAKE ELLIS?, the Image Comics series by Nathan Edmondson and Tonči Zonjić received an Eisner Award nomination for Best Limited Series. And now the taut, intense thriller that explores identity and consciousness is back with a much-anticipated sequel.

WHERE IS JAKE ELLIS?, a new series starting in November, delves deeper in the mystery of Jake Ellis and how he became linked to super-spy Jon Moore's consciousness. In WHO IS JAKE ELLIS?, Jake and Jon infiltrated "The Facility," where Jon was transformed from a CIA analyst into a field agent who can predict almost every move of his targets—thanks to Jake Ellis, a man who can see everything but whom only Jon can see.

The second JAKE ELLIS volume picks up a year after the end of the first, with Jon Moore in hiding from his past—and The Facility. But these are the people who created him—and Jake Ellis—and they won't be an easy tail to shake. Soon Jon is in their crosshairs once again, and he will need Jake Ellis to survive. Now Jon has two missions: stop The Facility, and find a man that no one else can see.

Nathan Edmondson is pleased to return to the world of JAKE ELLIS. "Tonci and I had more story in mind when we conceived WHO IS JAKE ELLIS?, and this is it," he said.

Zonjić's art on JAKE ELLIS perfectly balances mood and action, color and shadow, creating environments and characters that are deceptively simple and all the more effective because of it.

"We've grown together as creators," continued Edmondson. "And we're more than thrilled to walk Jon Moore and Jake Ellis back into the pages of an Image Comics book and into the hands of readers."

WHERE IS JAKE ELLIS? is a five-issue, full-color mini-series published by Image Comics. The first issue (SEP120405) will be in stores on November 14 and is available for pre-order now from the September issue of Previews. The creators invite readers to follow them on Twitter at @NHEdmondson and @tozozozo.

FOUR-PART COMIC BOOK SERIES "TRACE ADKINS IS LUKE MCBAIN " NOW AVAILABLE
AS A GRAPHIC NOVEL

Nashville, Tenn. – Oct 2, 2012 – The four-part comic book series, TRACE ADKINS IS LUKE MCBAIN, has been reissued as a graphic novel containing the original four installments of the comic first released in 2009. Additionally, the package contains unreleased extras such as a cover gallery, character designs, script pages and more. "TRACE ADKINS IS LUKE MCBAIN" is available in bookstores across North America and will be coming soon to all digital devices.

Writer David Tischman (“True Blood”) and 12 Gauge Comics’ publisher Keven Gardner developed the graphic novel with Adkins, taking inspiration for the central character from the tradition of revenge films like “Walking Tall” and “Billy Jack.” In the series, Luke McBain is the classic American hero - a straight shooter with integrity, incredible physical strength, a hatred for injustice and a sense of duty to serve those in need of help.

The story follows Luke McBain as he returns to his small Louisiana hometown after serving a 14-year sentence for a crime he didn’t commit.  Things have changed for the worse in the town, and it’s up to the 6’ 6” action hero to take a stand for what’s right.

The graphic novel is illustrated in full color by artist and Louisiana-native Kody Chamberlain (MTV’s “Punks”), with a cover from legendary “Batman” artist Brian Stelfreeze.  This collection also contains behind-the-scenes extras including character designs, script pages, and a cover gallery.  “Trace Adkins is Luke McBain”, the 112-page graphic novel, is on sale now with a suggested retail price of $14.99.

Praise for the series when it appeared in 2009:

"Really well written by David Tischman with great art by Kody Chamberlain" - Blair Butler, G4TV's 'Fresh Ink'

"Fantastic! Deserves to be up there with books like 'Criminal' and 'Incognito'. A great, cerebral thriller." - Craig Folsom, GrandLAN Weekly Comic Reviews

San Jose, Calif. – October 1st, 2012 – Necomimi, the brainwave ear sensation, is now releasing the first official customized colors in Obsidian Black, Caramel Brown and Jungle Leopard pattern for just $19.95. These complement the signature white cat ears that launched Necomimi. Users can now choose between the variety of ears to customize their headsets to fit their mood and different occasions. Ones thoughts have never looked so stylish!
Necomimi is a brainwave headset with ears that move according to the user’s neuroscience patterns and emotions in real time. A sensor placed on the wearer’s forehead monitors brainwave patterns and the ears move in cat-like reactive movements. The ears perk up when the user is alert, droop down to show relaxation and wiggle back and forth when the user is “in the zone.”
Necomimi first became popular within the anime and costume communities in Japan because of a viral YouTube video by Neurowear, a fashion electronics company and finally made its U.S. debut in July during Comic Con 2012.

VETERAN WRITERS, PRODUCERS FORM DARK MATTER PUBLISHING;
NEW COMIC BOOK SHINGLE TO PUBLISH
COMICS, GRAPHIC AND YOUNG ADULT NOVELS
Emmy Winning Writer/Director/Producer Tom Sheppard Named Publisher/Executive Editor
Partners with Producer Todd Moyer and Logistics Expert Doug Masterson
Original Material Slated from Sheppard, Scribes Andrea Portes and Chad Law
Los Angeles, CA October 1—Tom Sheppard, writer, director and producer of the runaway hit show Annoying Orange, Steven Spielberg’s Pinky and the Brain and numerous other projects, has partnered with producers Todd Moyer and Doug Masterson to announce the formation of a new comic book and young adult publishing company, Dark Matter Publishing LLC, based in Los Angeles.  With Sheppard serving as publisher alongside partners Moyer and Masterson, the company intends to publish six original comic series in the first year and expand into young adult publishing in year two, with plans to publish up to six novels per year.

“I am so pleased to be able to work with a creator of the caliber of Tom Sheppard and am counting on his creative vision as publisher to help guide the company,” Moyer said.   “We’re proud to unite a rare combination of talented artists and executives who will bring a fresh approach to the comic publishing and transmedia business.”

The company has announced its first four comic series, scheduled for publication in summer 2013.  They are:

Filthy, Stinking Heroes, created and written by Tom Sheppard.  Ziggy and Doak, a pair of 30-ish, costumed Hollywood Boulevard street hustlers, unmask and usurp the lives of their real-life vigilante hero counterparts: the once great, now bloated sell-outs BLACK HAWK and his disgruntled sidekick, BISON BOY.  As the faux-heroes live out their wildest dreams—cruising in the Hawkmobile, partying in the secret lair, and dating the real heroes' girlfriends—the real, unmasked Black Hawk is unwittingly imprisoned, his DNA found at the scene of many of the crimes he actually thwarted.  Unable to prove his true identity, his bitterness grows until a powerful new super-villain is born, with one goal in mind: destroying the guys who stole his life.

Super Rad, created and written by best-selling novelist and screenwriter Andrea Portes.  In this dystopian suburban society mega-conglomerate Freetek keeps the masses subdued with Happinex and mindless entertainment. But when teenager Charlotte Taft flat-lines and returns to life with psychic powers she uses her mind-reading abilities to seek vengeance on her enemies and, ultimately, threaten the benevolent fascism of the status quo. The feature film HICK, based on Portes’ novel and screenplay, was released on DVD August 12.  Directed by Derick Martini, HICK features a terrific cast that includes Chloe Grace Moretz, Blake Lively, Eddie Redmayne, Juliette Lewis and Alec Baldwin. She’s just completed her second novel, Bury This, and has an upcoming young adult novel in the works, Stupidfaces.

The Dark Voice, created and written by Chad Law (6 BULLETS, HERO WANTED, THE HIT LIST).  Throughout time many murderers have claimed that it was a voice that made them kill. Most assume they are either crazy or lying. But the voice is real and now, a dead man must travel to an alternate universe and hunt down history's most infamous killers in order to silence the voice forever.

Untrue Grit, created and written by Andrea Portes.  Gun-toting, wisecracking teenager KODY WILKES, refuses to "know her place" as a girl, living back in the days of the Wild West. But when the entire town is held hostage during a bank heist, she is the only one left to thwart the bank robbers.

Three-time Emmy Award winner Tom Sheppard first gained notoriety as a writer on Steven Spielberg’s Pinky and the Brain.  He wrote the screenplay for New Line’s live-action feature THE NEW ADVENTURES OF PINOCCHIO starring Martin Landau.  He wrote and directed the independent feature WOULD I LIE TO YOU? Other recent projects include Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken, Green Lantern and Back at the Barnyard, as well as the re-launch of Warner Bros. Looney Tunes.  Sheppard is the co-creator, executive producer, director and show runner on Cartoon Network’s The Annoying Orange, based on the wildly popular YouTube phenomenon.  Tom is currently working with legendary producer/director George Lucas and the creators of Robot Chicken on the upcoming Lucasfilm TV series, Star Wars: Detours.

Todd Moyer knows a thing or two about the lucrative and creative crossover from comics to filmed entertainment, having worked at Dark Horse Entertainment seven years, setting up numerous comic properties at studios including THE MASK, TIMECOP, VIRUS, BARB WIRE, MYSTERYMEN, and ALIEN VS. PREDATOR.  He served as co-producer on VIRUS and TIMECOP as well as producer on BARB WIRE.  He oversaw production of two Steve Seagal films at Warner Bros., FIRE DOWN BELOW and GLIMMERMAN.  Under his own shingle, No Prisoners Productions, he produced WING COMMANDER (Matthew Lillard and Freddie Prinze Jr.) and GEORGE AND THE DRAGON (Michael Clarke Duncan).  Recent projects include the just-completed SQUATTERS and the upcoming feature DREAMT.

Doug Masterson has decades of diverse practical experience in industries ranging from production to logistics, education to apparel.  Masterson served as producer on Sheppard’s WOULD I LIE TO YOU? In ten years with the famed live event logistics company Rock-It Cargo, he served in numerous positions from VP Sales and Marketing to President and COO, and also started an air charter division, Rock-It Air Charter.  He consulted to a live event production company and worked with a tutoring company.  Most recently he served as CEO of another international transportation logistics outfit, Shockwave Cargo.

The members of GLAY are also heavily involved in a variety of social and charitable causes.
