Ruthless Monarchy rules USA in Political thriller

Film-maker Jonathan Mostow Collaborates with

Virgin Comics to Create “The Megas”

New York, February 27, 2008---Campaigns, delegates and primaries are front page news, and Hollywood director Jonathan Mostow [Director of BREAKDOWN, TERMINATOR 3: RISE OF THE MACHINES, and upcoming THE SURROGATES starring Bruce Willis] has taken American politics into his own hands with today's release of THE MEGAS, an action-packed science fiction comic book series from Virgin Comics.

"I have always admired the medium of comic books and graphic novels, so I am incredibly excited to have my own new entry in the field. From concept to story to visual design, my experience on THE MEGAS has been as creatively rewarding as working on a movie." said creator Jonathan Mostow.

THE MEGAS is a metaphor for the America we live in today, a society of two classes, the privileged few…and everyone else. A country where all men are not created equal. Royal crime, sex and backstabbing punctuate the futuristic thriller that Mostow intends to develop into a feature film. "A society in which a tiny minority of rich and powerful pull the strings to insure their own self-interest under the auspices of everyone else's security…sound familiar?" asks Gotham Chopra, Virgin Comics' Chief Creative Officer." I was hooked the moment Jonathan told us his story of THE MEGAS and am sure that this comic series is going to engage readers - and viewers someday - in a way few stories really do."

"We’re thrilled to add Jonathan Mostow to Virgin Comics' team of Hollywood creative partners,” said Sharad Devarajan, Virgin Comics CEO. "THE MEGAS is an important new series in our Director's Cut line of properties." Virgin Comic’s Director’s Cut series also includes collaborations with John Woo, Nicolas and Weston Cage, Guy Ritchie and others.

Jonathan Mostow wrote and directed BREAKDOWN, U-571 starring Mathew McConaughey and Harvey Keitel. He also directed Terminator 3: Rise of the Machine. He also will be helming Disney’s upcomung tentpole The Surrogates (also based on a graphic novel) starring Bruce Willis which goes into production this spring.
