What a Sexy Witch? Try WITCHBLADE

Two of Top Cow Productions talent flying in to Phoenix ComiCon

Phoenix, AZ March 28, 2010: Brian Haberlin and Eric Basaldua while at Top Cow Productions worked on the popular Witchblade and are now attending Phoenix Comicon's May 2010 show.

Eric Basaldua began his career at Top Cow Productions in 2000 under the direct tutelage of founder, Marc Silvestri. His early credits include Magdalena, Witchblade/Wolverine, and Tomb Raider. Basaldua often works very closely with Silvestri, stepping in to provide art for Hunter-Killer #7 and #8 as well as assisting Silvestri on character designs for the recently announced partnership with Dynamite Entertainment. Basaldua's most recent work can be seen in Darkness Level 3, written by Paul Jenkins & David Wohl and in the first ever Witchblade Annual. Basaldua is best known for his sexy and voluptuously drawn women and is sometimes credited as Ebas.

"I know Eric is a big fan of Jessica Biel and I'm interested in finding out if that has inspired his drawing of women." said Anabel Martinez, Marketing Director for Phoenix Comicon.

Brian Haberlin is the former Vice President of Creative Affairs at Top Cow Productions. He was responsible for the entire creative direction of the highly successful comic company. While there he co-created the extremely popular Witchblade comic character. That series held the number one “hot comic” position for more than a year, as ranked by Wizard Guide to Comics. The Witchblade live-action television series is currently running on TNT.

Matt Solberg, Convention Director, said, "I saw a bit of Brian Haberlin's computer techniques on a TV show called How'd They Do That? It will be great to see his talent in person."

Prior to Witchblade, Haberlin was the colorist for the monthly issues of Todd McFarlane's Spawn series. Haberlin has since taken over some of the art chores on the book. He has also co-created many comic titles under his Avalon Studios such as Stone, The Wicked, Hellcop, Houdini: The Man from Beyond, Jinn, Aria, M-Rex, Area 52, and Athena Inc.

Phoenix ComiCon is the signature pop culture event of the southwest, presenting guests and programming for hobbyists and fans by attracting the top segments of the comics, anime, sci-fi, film, TV, and gaming industries. Entering its ninth year, Phoenix ComiCon is expected to draw over 10,000+ attendees to its May 27-30, 2010 convention held at the Phoenix Convention Center and Hyatt Regency located in downtown Phoenix.
