Comic Creator Flirts with Viral Fame

Jason M. Burns directs comedic web-series

August 24, 2011: Jason M. Burns, best known for his creator-owned comic book series A Dummy’s Guide to Danger, recently wrapped production on the new comedic web-series Adults Only, which features well-known entertainers Vincent Pastore (The Sopranos), Danny Nucci (Titanic, The Rock), Brian Austin Green (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Beverly Hills 90210), Sebastian Bach (lead singer of Skid Row), Brianna Brown (General Hospital and Showtime’s upcomingHomeland), Ronnie Marmo (General Hospital), Adrienne LaValley (best known for her work as the National Floors Direct spokesperson), and indie actor Todd Poudrier.

“I have never been more proud of a project,” states Burns, who not only directed, but also wrote and produced the series. “Even now, I look at the footage and I get a little emotional. I dreamt of this as a kid, and now here it is a reality.”

The series follows Chance Rioux, a former gymnast who must accept a job managing his brother-in-law’s adult video/novelty store in order to make ends meet, all while trying to conceal his identity from the public, particularly a new love interest who serves as the trigger in his reinvention of self.

“It’s all about second chances, with plenty of comedy thrown in for good measure,” Burns continues. “Life is funny, even when it doesn’t mean to be, which is what Chance discovers.”

Named Best Indie Writer of 2008 by the Project Fanboy Awards, Burns made the leap into the comic book industry in 2004. Since that time he has written and created a number of successful comic book series, including Curse of the Were-Woman, and The Expendable One, which is currently being developed into a major motion picture by Intrepid Pictures. Most recently Burns has spent time writing for other people’s creations, crafting comics and graphic novels for such recognizable properties as Megamind, Jericho, Pocket God, Kung Fu Panda, Richie Rich, and Fraggle Rock, while also working with on-screen talent, including Christopher Meloni.

Adults Only was shot in Massachusetts and is set to debut online in late October.
