IDW GAMES AND PANDASAURUS GAMES BRING AN INTERNATIONAL TABLETOP SENSATION TO THE U.S.
JAPANESE HIT MACHI KORO TO MAKE ITS NORTH AMERICAN DEBUT THIS SUMMER
San Diego, CA (March 19, 2014) – Today IDW Games announced the
publication of Machi Koro, the first of many small box games to be
released in partnership with Pandasaurus Games. This July, gamers can
look forward to adding the international hit card game Machi Koro to their weekly game sessions.
This will be the first North American printing of the fast-paced, dice-rolling city builder, Machi Koro.
In the game, players compete to be the first person to build up their
simple village into a sprawling metropolis. Originally designed and
released in Japan, Machi Koro has developed a dedicated
fan-base around the world. Excited fans have been eagerly anticipating
an English translation, and the game has already garnered a “seal of
excellence” from The Dice Tower among many other accolades.
“This is absolutely one of the most addictive games I’ve ever played,” said Molly Wardlaw
of Pandasaurus Games “Machi Koro is a table top gamer’s dream. Machi
Koro is so infectiously fun because it combines strategy in a small
fast-paced experience. This is a game that could easily be played with
non-gamers, but has enough depth and strategy to satiate the most
dedicated table top fanatics. This is the epitome of the ‘let’s play
just one more round’ experience.”
Armed only with your trusty die and a dream, you must
grow Machi Koro into the largest city in the region. You will need to
collect income from developments and build public works, and steal from
your neighbors coffers. Just make sure they aren’t doing the same to
you! Machi Koro is a fast-paced light-hearted game for you and up to 3
friends. They say you can’t build Rome in a day, but Machi Koro will can
be built in under 30 minutes!
“Machi Koro is a game that’s been whispered about in gaming halls for a long time,” said IDW Director of Business Development Jerry Bennington.
“Any convention it’s been at, players have swarmed booths, snapping up
copies, even if they had to translate rules and cards. We’re excited to
be introducing ourselves at GAMA with a game and giveaway this
prestigious.”
Machi Koro will be on display at the GAMA trade show March
17-21, 2014. The first 100 attendees to participate in a demo at the IDW
Games booth will walk away with a promo copy of Machi Koro. The game will retail for $29.99 and an expansion is already being planned for release for this holiday season.
