Kevin Eastman Kicks Off New “Scratch9” Series with Variant Cover
Eisner-nominated, all-ages title returns in new, feature-length adventure
March 18, 2014
- Hermes Press is pleased to announce legendary comics creator Kevin
Eastman is lending his considerable talents to the all-ages title
“Scratch9”. Eastman is providing a variant cover for the first issue of
the all-new, monthly adventure series, “Scratch9: Cat of Nine Worlds,”
which launches in June!
When
fans pick up this May’s “Scratch9 Free Comic Book Day Special” they’ll
meet the next great Scratch9 villain and read the first part of a story
that continues directly in the new series. The comic is written by
series creator Rob M. Worley and illustrated by Joshua Buchanan
(“Scratch9: Cat Tails”).
“If
you had told me 30 years ago that the guy who co-created the ‘Teenage
Mutant Ninja Turtles’ would be drawing my cat characters, I never would
have believed it,” said Worley. “It is just the realization of so many
dreams on so many levels.”
Eastman
will be joined by a roster of acclaimed cover artists that will each
lend their unique styles to the Scratch9 mythos. Upcoming talent
includes “Herobear & the Kid” creator Mike Kunkel, Marvel cat cover
creator Jenny Parks, “Afterlife of Archie” artist Francesco Francavilla
and “Bodie Troll” creator Jay Fosgitt, with more to be announced.
“Cat
of Nine Worlds” launches Scratch, a cat with the ability to summon any
of his nine lives, into an all-new, monthly adventure filled with
surprising twists. Fans who picked up last summer’s “Cat Tails”
anthology know that Scratch’s nemesis, Dr. Schrödinger, is back. This
time he’s not alone. The mad scientist has allied himself with Strick,
who fans will first see in the FCBD special. Strick will prove to be our
hero cat’s most formidable enemy.
“Scratch9:
Cat of Nine Worlds” #1 is available for pre-order from the April
Diamond Previews catalog (ordering code #APR141255/APR141256). The book
ships in June.
As
with all Scratch9 products, a portion of the proceeds will go to the
S.W.A.H. fund, benefitting animal shelters across the country.
