Geek 2 Geek Dating Success Stories
(Names have been changed to protect our member's privacy)
Story #1-Princess Zelda and Link
We started talking about 2.5 years ago. We had both almost given up completely on finding someone. I am a true gamer geek girl (On-line, pen and paper, board games, LARP, etc .)and I was looking for someone who not only could understand but possibly share in some of my numerous hobbies (I have way too many). Well I sent him a message on your site and we started chatting. About a month later we met in person for the first time. Well long story short (I know Too Late) I have an engagement ring on my finger that is totally geeky... Legend of Zelda (go figure) and the date is set for our the wedding for next summer.
Story #2-Ken and Alice
The story of how Ken and Alice met each other is much like any other. It began in 2009. After moving to Cincinnati a year and a half prior, one of Alice's friends suggested that, since she didn't really know anyone out in the Cincinnati area, she should join a dating website to meet someone new. In true Alice and Ken fashion, this dating website was for self proclaimed nerds and geeks who liked video games, comic books, etc. Ken had recently moved back to Cincinnati from Nashville, Tennessee, and was randomly searching on the same website when he came across Alice's profile. He was quick to send her a message, and soon enough, e-mails were exchanged several times a day between the two, then phone numbers. Their connection was instantaneous, that much was undeniable. And soon after that, they finally met at Magic Mountain, which started off their first date with mini golf, a walk around an epic mall, a movie, and finally dinner at In-N-Out . They have been partners in crime ever since that day.
It was a couple of days after Valentine's Day when it happened; Ken had offered to make her breakfast in bed while she slept in, still getting used to working second shift at her (then) new job. When he came in to wake her up, he was not carrying her breakfast, but instead, was carrying their cat, Lia, with a pink scarf around her neck. Still half asleep, Alice laughed, but it wasn't until Ken told her to look more closely at the cat that she realized that he had put her engagement ring on the pink scarf. He then got down on one knee, and used a line from her favorite musical, Beauty and the Beast: "So, will it be yes, or oh yes?"
The rest is history.
Ken says, “Thanks for bringing us together. We hope that our story inspires others to
not give up, and that there IS another geek out there for them.”
