Inclusive Geek Community Sites
Geek Girl Authority & Legion Of Leia
Launch Content Partnership

LOS ANGELES, CA. August 25, 2014 – In the spirit of women supporting women in the genre entertainment space, Geek Girl Authority and the Legion of Leia have joined forces to bring more audience and awareness to their shared vision for a more inclusive geek community.

Joining forces with Legion of Leia was a no-brainer for Geek Girl Authority,” said GGA founder Audrey Kearns. “Both are geek-centered online presences run by women who really love the genre. I mean, really love it, to a ridiculous extent. That can only lead to exceptional creativity and content.”

Both sites were launched in May of this year in an effort to meet an increasing demand for more diverse voices in the entertainment media space. Together, they hope to cross-pollinate features such as Legion of Leia’s profiles of women working in the entertainment industry and Geek Girl Authority’s Pollcats podcast.

"One of the best things about the geek community is the 'we're all in this together' mentality,” Legion founder Jenna Busch said. “In fact, we started this whole thing specifically to support women's contributions to sci-fi and the geek community. So partnering with Geek Girl Authority is a really natural fit.”

ABOUT LEGION OF LEIA (LegionofLeia.com)
The Legion of Leia was founded on Star Wars Day, May the 4th, 2014, in response to the originally estrogen-light casting announcement for the upcoming Star Wars Ep VII. Since then, they’ve seen more women added to the new Star Wars cast, and have established a positive and supportive community for and about women in the entertainment community. Their overarching mission is to raise awareness of the fact that women love sci-fi... and our contributions to it are out of this world.
