CULT CLASSIC FILM “FREE ENTERPRISE” RE-LAUNCHES ON
KICKSTARTER MONDAY, JULY 8 AT 17:01 HOURS TO
RAISE FUNDING FOR “GEEKS” TV PILOT
BASED ON ORIGINAL MOVIE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

(JUNE 4, 2014) On the 15th anniversary of the theatrical release of
the original motion picture FREE ENTERPRISE, the film’s
writer/producer MARK A. ALTMAN (Castle, The Specials, DOA: Dead Or
Alive) and director/writer ROBERT MEYER BURNETT (Agent Cody Banks,
ST: TNG Blu-rays) announced today the launch of a new Kickstarter
campaign on Monday, July 8th to raise money to shoot a half-hour
pilot for a new TV series based on the comedic cult classic.

Produced by the original team behind the beloved fan favorite, the
new TV series GEEKS, inspired by FREE ENTERPRISE, like its progenitor
is a love letter to STAR TREK and all things geektastic from two
lifelong devotees of genre filmmaking and fantastic pop culture.

GEEKS will feature an all-new cast of characters and a coterie of
famous nerdlebrities that they will encounter in their travels.
Retaining the wit, fun and genre savvy of the original film, GEEKS,
the FREE ENTERPRISE-based TV series, will have you loving long and
partying like it's 1999.

“Rob and I could not be more excited to be revisiting the FREE
ENTERPRISE universe 15 years after the release of the original
movie,” says GEEKS series producer MARK A. ALTMAN. “This is a
chance for fans to see themselves as they really are and will be the
only show depicting sci-fi fans with a life. It could probably best
be described as The Big Bang Theory meets Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

Joining the GEEKS team will be Emmy Award-winning comedy director
DAVE ROGERS, who has worked on such series as SEINFELD, THE OFFICE
and is currently a producer and director on Fox’s critically
acclaimed THE MINDY PROJECT.

“We are thrilled to have Dave Rogers directing our pilot,” says
GEEKS series producer Robert Meyer Burnett. “His amazing ability
with comedy and love for the original FREE ENTERPRISE movie makes him
the perfect person to Kirk-start our new show.”

Adds GEEKS series producer David E. Williams, editor-in-chief of the
popular Geek magazine, which was inspired by the original movie,
“For over a decade, fans have demanded a sequel to FREE ENTERPRISE,
this is your chance to see the FREE ENTERPRISE universe return to
screens… and only YOU can make it happen!”

The GEEKS series pilot Kickstarter campaign will go live on Monday,
July 8 at 17:01 hours (5:01 PM Pacific Time) and give fans a unique
chance to be part of the FREE ENTERPRISE experience with incentives
ranging from T-shirts to autographed posters to a chance to appear in
the TV pilot itself.
