Sean Astin to LiveStream Road-Trip from Knoxville to Memphis

The Sultana disaster is one of the most horrific events in U.S. history and yet few are aware that it even occurred.  A Mississippi steamboat, the Sultana, exploded just north of Memphis, Tennessee in the early morning hours of April 27, 1865 killing over 1,800 souls, many of whom were Civil War Veterans on their way home after the war ended.

Sean Astin will Co-Executive Produce the documentary with Jim Michaels (Supernatural), and producers Mark Marshall (Free Willy, Harry Potter), Mike Marshall, and Matthew Egan.

In addition to EP, Astin will narrate the documentary, with a notable cast of voice talent, including Jim Beaver (Supernatural, Deadwood), Glenn Morshower (Star Trek, Transformers), Jason Richter (Free Willy Trilogy), Jim Cummings (Winnie The Pooh, Tigger), and Thomas Ian Nicholas (American Pie).

The campaign launched on April 20th with a goal of $75,000, and as the June 4th finish approaches, the project is 82% funded and continues to climb.  The campaign rewards  focus on the historical importance of the film, with Remember The Sultana as the rally cry, but Astin, Beaver, and other fan favorites will find an array of personalized photos, dvds, and even lunch opportunities available at www.RememberTheSultana.com
