Project: Rooftop Announces Winners Of
"Storm: All-Weather Wear" Redesign Contest
Guest Judges Brian Wood and Kris Anka and P:R staff pick three first-time P:R artists to the top Three Prizes!
After three months, 100+ entries and four weeks of deliberating, Project: Rooftop is proud to announce the winners of the Storm: All-Weather Wear redesign contest. The regular P:R judges were joined by comics writer  Brian Wood (X-Men, Star Wars, Conan The Barbarian), cover artist Kris Anka (Uncanny X-Force) as well as Erica Henderson and Kim Belair to sift through the various entries and boil it all down to the top 20, the top 3 and finally the winner.

Illustrated by first-time P:R contributor Kelly Smith, this First Place Entry earned a score out of 87 out of 100 -- with it receiving no score under 8 by any of the 10 judges. This stunning entry earned high marks from past P:R contest winner & current Marvel artist Kris Anka.

"I really love this. The flat colours, the shape breaks, the piping, all of it works fantastically for me," said the artist, who recently redesigned the characters in Marvel's Uncanny X-Force series.
"Wow. This is so well considered, balanced yet distinctive, and seems so effortless in combining all the complexities of Ororo's personality and various looks into one look," stated P:R contributor Joel Priddy, who is a noted cartoonist and college professor teaching art. "Storm is a character who is both guarded and open to the world around her. She's regal and rebellious, elegant and punk by turns. And that's all here."

Originally created back in 1975 by Lein Wein and Dave Cockrum, Storm is best known as an X-Man but has also spent time as a member of the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and even the Hellfire Club; along the way she's become one of Marvel's top heroines and one of comics most iconic heroes.

Kelly Smith is joined on the proverbial winner's podium by artist Zhihuang Dong who earned Second Place with a score of 75 out of 100, and Xulm with a Third Place score of 74.5 out of 100. You can see all of the winners' entries as well as the judges' full comments at www.projectrooftop.com. The rest of the Top 20 -- the honorable mentions -- will be posted later this week.

Thanks to Kris Anka for designing the banner for this contest.
