Whale Wars Star and Tails Creator Team Up to Create "True Story" Superhero Comic Book, "A Piggy's Tale" - Available via Kickstarter until November 20th

(October 31, 2013-New York, NY)
Tod Emko is a known conservationist, featured in the popular TV show Whale Wars and founder of Darwin Animal Doctors (http://darwinanimaldoctors.org), the only animal hospital in the Galapagos Islands. Teaming up with Ethan Young, the popular artist who created the comic Tails (http://tailscomic.com), the duo brings you "A Piggy's Tale," a superhero comic book starring Tod's tripod rescue dog, Piggy! The first two issues of the comic are now available via Kickstarter until November 20th:

And it's getting glowing reviews already:
"...before I knew it I was absorbed in the story... But what really seals the deal, from both Emko and Young, is the real heart that has been put into each character. With very little exposition or long screeds of narration or dialogue, these are characters that the reader immediately knows and loves. The Kickstarter was launched on Monday, and I highly recommend sticking down a pledge – regardless of whether you have kids or not." - Comics Beat
"An all ages comic that speaks to both animal lovers and superhero fans casts a wide net to get into people’s hearts. A Piggy’s Tale is one of those remarkably inclusive projects that has a message as well as a story... Drawn by the influential webcomic creator Ethan Young, whose long-running project Tails has garnered a wide fanbase and gone to print in its first volume, the artwork on Piggy is bright, energetic, and memorable." - Bleeding Cool
Tod found Piggy on a volunteer veterinary mission to the Dominican Republic, where he found a dying, hairless dog who got hit by a bus a month before.  The veterinary team was able to perform life-saving surgery on Piggy, amputating his hurt leg. Because the dog had no hair, Tod named him Piggy because he looked like a piglet, and then Tod brought tripod Piggy home to New York City.
In NYC, it became apparent that Piggy had extraordinary abilities (thanks to his past ordeal) to sense the pain of others, and Piggy was able to seek out and find suffering individuals thanks to this talent. This "super power" inspired Tod to make a comic book about Piggy's adventures fighting evil and helping the defenseless. A rescue dog is finally recognized as a superhero! The book is beautifully illustrated by the very talented Ethan Young, illustrator of FOX's cartoon The Centsables (http://www.centsables.com/comics/). The comic, titled "A Piggy's Tale," has just been released via Kickstarter.
Backers of the Kickstarter will be able to get copies of the comic books, as well as merchandise like Piggy tshirts and tote bags, and even hats with cat ears, representing Piggy's sidekick cat.
The Kickstarter runs until November 20th, and anyone who loves animals, rescues, or adventure, is sure to love this comic and its Kickstarter rewards.
